If your dad thinks about your boyfriend as quickly as you do when you get good news; if your dad is as excited as you are to share it - well, your boyfriend is part of the family. My headcanon about Blaine and the Hummels is canon.

The second most exciting moment of the episode for me was when I got to Skype to anxioussquirrel that Sebastian is "sexist, racist, homophobic, and cisgendernormative." He's not just asinine; he's a total ass.

I have decided I'm ok with Sebastian being the worst possible person he can while still being believable as someone who could exist in real life.

Even yesterday, before the episode aired, I had higher hopes for Sebastian as a redeemable character (although I was by no means convinced the story line would end up there). But yesterday presented him as absolutely aware and absolutely in control of how hurtful he's being, with little capacity for remorse. I could be wrong. We shall see where it goes.

P.S. Also, I thought you might appreciate that during "Smooth Criminal," I decided Sebastian is bi/pan (did you see the way he was checking out Santana?) and kept thinking "consensual anger sex." Just sayin'.

He was totally checking her out. That was the most overt hetero-erotic subtext between two queer characters I've ever seen. LOL. Either A) he likes girls, B) he was doing it to freak her out and put her off her game, or C) he's attracted to powerful people of all genders who threaten his position. I would be leaning toward B, but he kind of checked out the French teacher during Uptown Girl too. He totally likes girls.

I've been thinking thinky thoughts about Artie being not entirely straight. Not just because that whole Scream video was all in his head and was awfully sexy. But also because of when they were trying out hip-thrusty dance moves and he said about Sam "I got light tingles where it's only fifty-fifty for tingling." And previously he called Dustin Goolsby "So handsome." And I could have sworn he had turned-on-face during Something's Coming. And there may be more I'm forgetting.

Artie was so sexy and dominating during "Bad" that I was sure Sebastian must be having naughty thoughts about him, but I didn't watch for the other way around. Probably not there the other way around because Artie wouldn't go for Sebastian, but it's an interesting thought.

Mmmm, queer Artie. I love it.

My thinky thoughts aren't that well-developed. It's just that the only explicitly bi/pan character is Brittany, who gets around. I don't have a problem with Brittany getting around, but if Sebastian is also bi/pan and he *also* gets around, then the presentation of bi/pan sexual expression is kind of limited in Glee. Even if Artie is queer, they're totally never going to make that clear on screen.

Of course, I've been all kinds of wrong before.

Ah, yes, the classic "slutty bisexual" stereotype. I'm actually a little disappointed Blaine didn't turn out to be bi/pan, because then he could have dated Rachel monogamously for a while, broken up with her (because she's still in love with Finn, or because he realized it was hurting Kurt, or something) and then he could have been happily monogamous with Kurt forever and ever, and it wouldn't have even needed to ever come up again that he likes girls, and he would have been a normal, realistic example of a relationship-focused, non-promiscuous bi/pan character on tv. Oh well.

If they keep going the way they are, I'm not sure they'll make it obvious that Sebastian isn't 100% gay. Your fears may yet go unfounded. Not that I want him to be 100% gay, but I'd rather they add a bi/pan character who is into stable relationships before they add another one who gets around. For the sake of variety and so as not to perpetuate stereotypes.

Ok the interesting things about Brittany cheating were that A) she was presented as being too dumb to even realize it counts as cheating when it's with a girl, which brings up all kinds of issues with regard to intelligence level, (and she was opposed to cheating when it was Mike she was suspected of being with) and B) as misogynistic as Artie can be sometimes, he was hurt by it rather than wanting to see two hot girls together. I'm not sure where I'm going with this, but I thought those two things were unusual.

I was initially disappointed that Blaine didn't come out as bi in BIOTA or afterward, or at least that we weren't privy to more of his struggle around his orientation. I probably would have had a heart attack if he'd dated Rachel for more than one-and-a-half episodes, though, because I was heavily OTPing him and Kurt. Ultimately, I understand why they did what they did, though.

They can make up for it by having Artie date a guy now :)

I think that Brittany is supposed to have a cognitive disability. There are things I've noticed and things other people have noticed to say she's not just a "ditzy blonde" character. The actress has said something to the effect (which I can't find now). In 3.10, Sue asked Artie why he could date Brittany but not Becky (could be reading too much into that, but I don't think so). And crown_of_weeds pointed out that in yesterday's episode, she didn't know how to lock the door, and kids in Special Ed are often explicitly NOT taught how to lock doors and forbidden from doing so - even bathroom doors - if they know how. crown_of_weeds has a lot more on this topic if you're interested.

But I also think that Brittany did think it was cheating, but accepted Santana's explanation for why it wasn't because it was emotionally easier. When they have that conversation, Santana says it's not cheating so quickly that they must have had this conversation several times before.

I had no idea. That's really interesting. I pretty much assume everything Brittany says is a joke, so it's nice to think some things might actually be thought through and have some meaning.

But I also think that Brittany did think it was cheating, but accepted Santana's explanation for why it wasn't because it was emotionally easier.

THIS MAKES SO MUCH SENSE. I like this idea.
