Any footbal fans out there?

I am working on a fic that has some references to American high school football, and I'm not too familiar with the sport ... If any of you are familiar with it (Canadian football is probably okay too) and would be happy to have me bounce questions off of you, let me know. (Yeah, I know I can post to the comms, but I thought I'd try here first.)
