13 hours and 35 minutes to get the house clean

I have this New Year's tradition of cleaning my abode. But I don't feel like it this year. All I want to do is sit around and write.

Of course, I only got home from visiting the family of origin last night, which means my cats are needy, the laundry needs to be done, and I desperately need groceries, because all I will be eating until I do is oatmeal, popcorn and canned peas. Okay, I might round it out with dried apples and Christmas cookies and peanut butter cups.

I didn't get much writing done over the holidays, what with how loud and interactive my family is, but I did manage a few thousand words about David Karofsky because he has taken over my brain. Hope I don't lose all my friends when I finally post it. :)

I have the same tradition and it does me in almost every year. Drives the husband nuts because it comes directly after a whirlwind family tour. But dammit, I like to start the year with a clean house. This year I might save resolutions for the END of January so I can do New York in decadence and frivolousness. Maybe I'll even book a Stoney-inspired massage. Hell, maybe I should just make those my resolutions. More decadence! More frivolousness! End times, after all. But most certainly resolving to tell more writers on LJ how much I adore them. I adore you! See what I did there? Bringing the new year in with a bang. Woo Hoo!! Now back to sorting toys and purging ratty old clothes. Decadent, I know.

"More decadence! More frivolousness!" should be my New Year's resolutions. I don't do them nearly enough. Case in point: Went to a brew pub with my parents this week. Ordered a 12 oz. beer. It was good. Drank about half of it. Dad asked if I was going to finish it. "No, I've started to feel it."
