It started out promising, and yay to Blaine and Kurt having a Swiss chalet decked in mid-century modern, but then ...
  • "River" was too short.
  • Never heard "Extraordinary Christmas""Extraordinary Merry Christmas" before, never want to hear it again.
  • I know it was for the local television station, but could Kurt and Blaine have danced any farther apart?
  • Not sure how I felt about Kurt playing up the 1950s gay.
  • Sing when is "My Favorite Things" a Christmas song, or a Solstice song, or a Hannukah song, or a Kwanzaa song, or a New Year's song?
  • Rory, your Charlie Brown Christmas Special moment is only appropriate during the Charlie Brown Christmas Special. Or at church. Or in your home, or during private conversation among friends. Yeah, I know my mom's all "Put the Christ back in Christmas," but it was Saturnalia first. You should have read from A Christmas Carol instead, which gets the true pagan spirit of goodwill toward all, and not just those on whom Yahweh's favor rests (Luke 2:14). How were you showing generosity and kindness to Rachel and Puck and Kurt? Explain, please.
  • Could they have thought of a more condescending song to sing at the homeless shelter?
The bowtie and capri pants joke was funny, though - but I imagine it would have been lost on all the viewers in western Ohio who don't know Blaine. And it was nice to see Kurt and Blaine acting like a couple through most of the show, and Blaine looking meaningfully at Kurt while he was singing about slow kisses. Would have liked to see the rehearsal version of "Let It Snow," where they dance ballroom-style and end up making out on the couch. And would have liked to be certain that they were holding hands while Rachel sang "River." (Hmmm, that might make a good drabble. I imagine a purple and flowery and lyrical drabble - all in good ways. Anyone? Anyone?)

[Update on 12/14: I get a little less Scroogie McScroogePants in the comments section. And fantasize about Kurt singing "River."]

Well, now that the episode has passed, you can give me all the spoilers for it you want! Did they cut out good things or bad things?

I wondered what Rory said in the locker room scene. That was a good scene. I really liked the show up through the first or second commercial break and then, well. And I liked that tiny bit of Samcedes. They're really the only straight couple I care about anymore on the show.

I wondered when Rory was talking about Sam being his Christmas sponsor, if that was supposed to sound like AA/12-step sponsor. I didn't understand if that was supposed to be funny or just an awkward Irish-ism.

These are from the scene where Blaine gives Kurt a Christmas present:

but i understand why theycut it because of the theme of the episode about giving back etc, etc...

But they also cut 'Santa Baby' even though they showed a tiny clip of Santana singing it in the promos.

Holy crap, Kurt's outfit is so f-ing hot, it's a wonder Blaine doesn't just do him in the hallway. That man has got restraint.

Plus, they freaking color coordinate!

I needz the director's cut! What is in that box? Is it another dead animal pin?

I just looked on kurt-blaine and there's a scene summary here. The Elizabeth Taylor references now make a lot more sense:
