Real life update

So I hardly ever talk about RL here except in the vaguest of terms, when it somehow relates to the plot of Glee or is interfering with my fic writing. But I just thought I would let people who have commented lately know that the reason I haven't responded isn't personal – I've had work and family commitments up the wazoo for the past two weeks, and have been sick as a dog (um, why is the phrase "sick as a dog," anyway?) for the past few days, so I've been spending what little free time in sheer escapism -– reading fluff fics and scribbling down responses to prompts, for the most part. I love getting into long discussions with folks after my meta posts; somehow, though, last week's comments were so damn thoughtful that I can't think of ways to respond that are less than five paragraphs long, and I don't have the energy for that right now – partly because of the word count, but partly because of the feelings.

Like, I have this idea for an episode reaction for Prom-asaurus, but it would be sad and weepy and I just can't go into those feelings right now when I'm nauseated and headachey and exhausted and trying to meet deadlines for work. And that's kind of how I am with talking about last week's episode, too, even though I loved it.

This may make it sound like I'm having a really hard time; I'm not. It's just harder than usual. But I'm a sickly person in general, and used to being out for the count frequently, and have adjusted to and accepted it for the most part (while trying to keep myself as healthy as possible, of course), and have a pretty high tolerance for pain and discomfort. So all that is actually okay. I'm just exhausted, you know? But I have hope that I'll be back to my normal, meta-ing self soon.

Aw, I'm sorry you've been sick! *sends healing vibes and good wishes* I've been feeling guilty for not replying to your Choke meta post, especially since you were so appreciative of my comments on your Dance With Somebody post. I just didn't really feel like I had much to say about it, I guess. Except that Kurt was awesome and I love him forever and ever. (He was so very hot during that number, he killed it, and then he was so relieved and overwhelmed afterward that I thought I would burst with relief myself.) Anyway, I'm glad to hear what's up with you, even if it's not all good stuff, and I hope you feel better soon!

"Sick as a dog" comes about because dogs will eat anything, and they don't always keep it down. Think of 'sick' in the British usage -- vomiting. There's your etymology lesson for the day.

No need to feel guilty. Like, I'm not going to feel guilty for not posting an episode reaction this week (and here's where I tried to black something out with a spoiler blackout, and LJ wouldn't accept my 5 different attempts at HTML for it, so, ugh.)

Good news for you is that after my nap today, I scribbled out the rest of my response to your most recent prompt in my prompt post (that OTHER prompt fill is still going through beta - as you can imagine, it takes a while - but I also saw your to-read on judearaya's LJ, so I know you have plenty to keep you busy and that gives me comfort). Except that now I realize my scribblings don't really follow any of the details in your prompt, except that the involve Kurt/Blaine and Sebastian and are super-porny. So maybe not so good news for you. Before I post, I'm gonna sleep on it or send it to someone in New Zealand to make sure it still makes sense tomorrow, 'cause I'm a little delirious from all the meds.

Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well! I haven't been sick but I have been busy with the end of my grad semester and work always being crazy this time of year. So I know how you feel about not responding to everything. I still have your comment to me flagged and I plan to get to it soon. I just know, like you, that I don't have the energy to give it the attention it deserves. Will probably get to it this weekend, though.
