A little lost

I’ve been working on a fic for the past 4 months. It’s more than 125,000 words long. I had insomnia last night and worked on it for a while. I woke up this morning and looked at it and realized I had pretty much reached the end.

Yeah, there’s revisions to do and scenes to cut and others to insert, but I think it’s going to be ready to post in the foreseeable future. Which kind of leaves me at a loss. I don’t know what I’m going to do when I’m completely done with this story.

I have others to start, but I’m pretty sure I’m going to be walking around with a dazed, empty feeling for a few days.

ohhh I know those feels. It's hard to put so much of yourself into something and then have it be gone/done. Gah. But yay for new fic (soonish?)! And just think of all the heaps and praises and love you'll get to help fill the void! <3

Yeah, anytime you put that kind of time, energy, and care into something, especially something like writing, and then you finish it ... it is hard to know what to do next. Where to put your time, energy, and care now. I'm thrilled to read your story, though. Can't wait to get my hands on it. Like mixed_berryjam said, hopefully the comments you'll receive will help you bask in the glow of completing a project like that and reduce the feeling of loss at having finished it.

And then I woke up this morning and realized it's not like the revision process is going to be butter, so I can still look forward to a couple more weeks of sweating blood.

I feel a lot better now :)

(Plus, I fell asleep last night dreaming up headcanon for one of my other fics. So, yeah, one thing goes and another comes along ... )
